Asbestos Specialists

As part of the Canada’s Health & Safety regulations, a building is required to carry out an ongoing asbestos management plan when asbestos is present.

At CES, we work with property owners, property management companies and managers to carry out ongoing asbestos management programs that include tracking, inspections, written notifications and reports and training.

An asbestos management plan must include:

• a record containing the location, type and condition of asbestos and other hazardous material
• the report must be updated at least once every 12 months and whenever the owner becomes aware of new information;
• future inspection dates
• additional examinations
• written notification to workers, occupiers, and employers
• training of workers regarding hazards of asbestos exposure; use, care and disposal of protective equipment and clothing, personal hygiene, and the measures and procedures described in the Regulation;
• cleanup
• removal, sealing or enclosure of material
• identifying the person(s) responsible for managing the asbestos risk;
• a copy of the asbestos record or register and how to access it if it is kept electronically;
• instructions that any work on the fabric of the building cannot start without the relevant parts of the record/register being checked.
